Very expected game in Guanajuato where 7th ranked Quetzales (1-5) were crushed by third ranked Mieleras (4-2) 72-51 on Sunday. Mieleras held Quetzales to an opponent 24.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 37.9 percent accuracy of the winners. Mieleras forced 21 Quetzales turnovers. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Brisa Silva (170-84, college: Oklahoma St.) who scored 17 points, 5 assists and 5 steals. Martha Castillo chipped in 19 points. Mieleras' coach Jose Villegas felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Izchel Valdez who recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and guard Tania Garcia (168) added 4 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Gamos and Aztks. Quetzales lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with five games lost.
