Regular Season Round 6: Mexcaltecas - Aztks 82-85

The most exciting game of round 6 in the LMBPF took place in Tepic. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 6th ranked Mexcaltecas (2-4) to fourth ranked Aztks (4-2) 85-82 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Mexcaltecas. Cuban center Klavdia Calvo (186-83) scored 23 points and 9 rebounds (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and the former international guard Angelica Molina (160-93) chipped in 13 points during the contest. Aztks' coach A Fernandez used entire bench in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American point guard Gabby Ramirez (157, college: Colorado Springs) with 20 points and 4 assists and her fellow American import power forward Toni Smith (183, college: Fresno St.) scored 21 points. Four Mexcaltecas players scored in double figures. Aztks moved-up to second place, which they share with Mieleras and Gamos. Mexcaltecas at the other side keep the sixth position with four games lost. Aztks is looking forward to face Quetzales (#7) in Ciudad de Mexico in the next round where they are favorite. Mexcaltecas will play on the road against Mieleras in Guanajuato and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
