Regular Season Round 6: Lobas - Gamos 87-57

Date: March 4, 2018
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Ciudad de Mexico: Lobas (#1) and Gamos (#2). Lobas (6-0) smashed visiting Gamos (4-2) by 30 points 87-57. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Gamos. Lobas dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Gamos' 30. Lobas forced 21 Gamos turnovers and outrebounded them 43-30 including 28 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. American forward Carolee Dillard (188-94, college: UALR) notched a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals to lead the effort and Andrea Medina (169-92) supported her with 14 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals. Four Lobas players scored in double figures. Even 15 points and 5 rebounds by the former international Vanessa Dominguez did not help to save the game for Gamos. Kenia Heredia added 12 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lobas have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 6-0 record. Gamos at the other side keep the second place with two games lost. They share the position with Mieleras and Aztks. Lobas will play against bottom-ranked Acereras (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Gamos will play against Reinas (#5) and hope to get back on the winning track.
