Date: March 4, 2018
The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Leche Rio Breogan (21-4) in Lugo on Sunday night. Hosts were edged by tenth ranked Palencia Baloncesto (12-13) 82-80. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Leche Rio Breogan. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 23-20. But Leche Rio Breogan won second period 18-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Palencia Baloncesto shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. Guard Andres Miso (198-83) stepped up and scored 12 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and guard Jordi Grimau (196-83) chipped in 17 points. Four Palencia Baloncesto players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Jose-Salvador Arco (196-84, agency: Duran International) responded with 25 points and 5 rebounds and American center Matt Stainbrook (208-92, college: Xavier, agency: 3Eye) scored 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his eight free throws). Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Palencia Baloncesto have a solid series of three victories in a row. Palencia Baloncesto moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Araberri. Leche Rio Breogan at the other side still keeps top position with four games lost. Palencia Baloncesto is looking forward to face Cocinas.com (#17) in Logrono in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Leche Rio Breogan will play on the road against the league's second-placed La ICL Manresa (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
