Regular Season Round 18: Maccabi Haifa - Hapoel T-A 82-77

Bottom-ranked Maccabi Haifa managed to get the second consecutive victory. This time they won against fifth-ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv 82-77. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-11. But Hapoel Tel-Aviv won second period 20-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American forward Brandon Bowman (205-84, college: Georgetown) who had a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds. Puerto Rican point guard Angel Rodriguez (180-92, college: Miami, FL) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. Maccabi Haifa's coach Offer Rahimi allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was international Rafi Menco (200-94, agency: Avi Zilberman) who recorded 14 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Jerel McNeal (190-87, college: Marquette) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Five Maccabi Haifa and four Hapoel Tel-Aviv players scored in double figures. Maccabi Haifa (6-12) moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Bnei Hertzeliya. Hapoel Tel-Aviv lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth position with nine games lost. Maccabi Haifa's next round opponent will be higher ranked Hapoel Eilat (#7) at home and it may be quite challenging game. Hapoel Tel-Aviv will play against Maccabi Rishon in Rishon Le-Zion and hope to win that game.
