Everything could happen in Tenerife at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked Andorra and 9th ranked CB Canarias had identical 11-9 record. But CB Canarias was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Andorra 78-69 on Sunday night. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 78-69. The best player for the winners was French point guard Andrew Albicy (177-90) who scored 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. International point guard Jaime Fernandez (186-93) chipped in 18 points. Four Andorra players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Polish swingman Mateusz Ponitka (196-93) who recorded 16 points and 7 rebounds and American center Mike Tobey (213-94, college: Virginia) added 12 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Andorra (12-9) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain eighth place. Loser CB Canarias keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. Andorra will face Real Betis (#17) in Sevilla in the next round and are hoping to win another game. CB Canarias will play at home against Zaragoza (#14) and hope to win that game.
