Regular Season Round 26: Niigata Albirex - Toyota Alvark 81-72

B League round 26 caused change at the leadership position. Eleventh defeat of league's leader Toyota Alvark (29-11) against fifth ranked Niigata Albirex (17-23) 81-72 was the most important game of the last round. Niigata Albirex looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists. Swingman Keita Imamura (191-96) contributed with 19 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Niigata Albirex's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American center Alex Kirk (211-91, college: N.Mexico, agency: Pensack Sports) replied with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds and the former international forward Daiki Tanaka (191-91) added 22 points and 7 assists in the effort for Toyota Alvark. Niigata Albirex have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Toyama Grouses. Toyota Alvark lost third consecutive game. They still keep top position with 11 games lost. They share it with Chiba Jets. They were replaced at the leadership position by Ryukyu GK. Toyota Alvark will play next round against strong Hitachi Sunrockers trying to make it back to the top of the standings. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tokyo - Hitachi Sunrockers. Niigata Albirex will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Yokohama BC on the road.
