Regular Season Round 16: Villeneuve - Roche 70-53
Date: March 4, 2018
There was no surprise when 11th ranked Roche (3-13) was defeated on the road by second ranked Villeneuve D'Ascq (13-3) 70-53. The winners were led by the former international Johanne Gomis-Halilovic (179-85) who scored that evening 19 points and 4 assists and the former international forward Laetitia Kamba (187-87) supported her with 14 points. Four Villeneuve D'Ascq players scored in double figures. Villeneuve D'Ascq's coach Frederic Dusart allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 20 points and 7 rebounds by American Danielle McCray (186-87, college: Kansas) did not help to save the game for Roche. Croatian center Iva Cuzic-Sliskovic (190-84, college: S.Carolina) added 8 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Villeneuve D'Ascq have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 13-3 record behind leader Bourges. Roche lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the bottom place with 13 games lost. Villeneuve D'Ascq's next round opponent will be Tarbes (#6) on the road. Roche will play against Lyon (#4) and hope to win that game.
