SM-sarja top team - Catz Lappeenranta (22-2) added another victory to their record. This time they beat eighth ranked Forssan Alku (7-17) 69-61. The hosts were ahead by 1 point but lost the second period ending it with a 5-point deficit before their 25-12 run, which allowed them to win the game. Catz Lappeenranta made 16-of-18 charity shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Catz Lappeenranta outrebounded Forssan Alku 47-36 including 32 on the defensive glass. Americans were the main players on the court. The winners were led by forward Aleighsa Welch (183-93, college: S.Carolina, agency: Two Points) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds and point guard Valencia McFarland (163-91, college: Mississippi) supported her with 17 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Four Catz Lappeenranta players scored in double figures. Even 33 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 6 assists by forward Mia Loyd (180-94, college: N.Dakota) did not help to save the game for Forssan Alku. Forssan Alku at the other side keeps the eighth place with 17 games lost. Catz Lappeenranta will play against league's second-placed Tapiolan Honka on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
