Regular Season Round 20: MIA-RO Cantu - Scandone AV 83-82

Round 20 in Serie A means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Cantu where host MIA-RO Cantu (10-10) edged league's leader Scandone AV (14-6) 83-82 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Scandone AV. Strangely Scandone AV outrebounded MIA-RO Cantu 42-26 including a 13-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American power forward Charles Thomas (203-86, college: Arkansas) who scored 16 points. The other American import point guard Jaime Smith (190-89, college: Al.-Huntsville) chipped in 20 points. Ukrainian center Kyrylo Fesenko (216-86) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and American guard Jason Rich (191-86) added 18 points respectively for the guests. Four MIA-RO Cantu and five Scandone AV players scored in double figures. MIA-RO Cantu moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 3 other teams. Scandone AV at the other side dropped to the third position with six games lost. They share it with Germani BR. They were replaced at the leadership position by Umana VE. Scandone AV will play next round against New Basket BR trying to make it back to the top of the standings. MIA-RO Cantu will try to continue on its current victory against thirteenth ranked The Flexx PT in Pistoia.
