Regular Season Round 24: Atenas - Salta Basket 82-73

There was no surprise in Cordoba where 16th ranked Salta Basket (8-16) was defeated by fifth ranked Atenas (14-7) 82-73. Atenas outrebounded Salta Basket 42-28 including 32 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for American center Jerome Meyinsse (207-88, college: Virginia, agency: Dutt Sports Services) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. The other American import guard Donald Sims (185-87, college: Appalachian St., agency: Pensack Sports) contributed with 19 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four Atenas players scored in double figures. Atenas' coach Nicolas Casalanguida allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Point guard Diego Figueredo (185-91) replied with 15 points and 7 assists and the former international forward Pablo Espinoza (200-87) added 8 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Salta Basket. Atenas maintains fifth position with 14-7 record. Salta Basket at the other side keeps the sixteenth place with 16 games lost. Atenas' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Cordoba to the arena Instituto.
