Regular Season Round 23: Vasco Da G. - Caxias do Sul 70-87

Rather expected game in Rio de Janeiro where 9th ranked Vasco Da G. (10-15) was defeated by seventh ranked Caxias do Sul (14-11) 87-70 on Tuesday. Caxias do Sul looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for Argentinian point guard Enzo Cafferata (187-88) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points and 5 assists (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Alexandre de-Souza (202-92) helped adding 13 points and 7 rebounds. Four Caxias do Sul players scored in double figures. American David Jackson (195-82, college: Penn St.) responded with 15 points and 4 assists and international power forward Lucas Mariano (208-93) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Caxias do Sul have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place. Loser Vasco Da G. keeps the ninth position with 15 games lost. Caxias do Sul will face Botafogo F.R. (#12) in Rio de Janeiro in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Vasco Da G. will play at home against Joinville and hope to win that game.
