Second Stage Round 4: Sagesse - Al Riyadi 83-109

Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Beirut: Al Riyadi (#1) and Sagesse (#4). Sagesse was smashed at home by 26 points 83-109 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Al Riyadi players were unselfish on offense dishing 37 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Sagesse's players. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Amir Saoud (186-91) who helped to win the game recording 40 points (!!!). The former international point guard Wael Arakji (194-94) contributed with a triple-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 18 assists for the winners. Swingman Raymond Dagher (196-86) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds and Aziz Abdel-Massih added 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Sagesse. Four Sagesse players scored in double figures. Al Riyadi (19-3) have an impressive nine-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position in Group A. Sagesse lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with eight games lost. Al Riyadi will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sagesse's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Beirut to the arena Beirut Club.
