Regular Season Round 21: Vichy Clermont - Nancy 77-74

A very close game took place in Vichy between JA Vichy and Sluc Nancy. Twelfth ranked JA Vichy (9-12) got a very close home victory over higher ranked Sluc Nancy (12-9). JA Vichy managed to escape with a 3-point win 77-74 on Tuesday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 25-17. But Sluc Nancy won second period 23-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Sluc Nancy outrebounded JA Vichy 38-25 including 26 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was David Denave (193-85) who scored 21 points and 5 assists. American point guard Kwamain Mitchell (178-89, college: St.Louis) chipped in 9 points and 9 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was U.S. Virgin Islands-Puerto Rican forward Ivan Aska (201-90, college: Murray St.) who recorded 19 points and 7 rebounds and Cameroonian forward Narace Williams (201-97) added 15 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Four Sluc Nancy players scored in double figures. JA Vichy have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Evreux. Sluc Nancy lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with nine games lost. JA Vichy will meet higher ranked Lille Metropole (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sluc Nancy will play against SPO Rouen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
