Second Stage Round 7: Montana - Beroe 79-74

No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Montana 2003 (9-4) beat at home 11th ranked Beroe (3-10) 79-74. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Beroe won third quarter 20-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Montana 2003 won last quarter 20-16. Montana 2003 outrebounded Beroe 36-21 including 27 on the defensive glass. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Power forward Dimana Makarieva-Georgieva (188-88) fired 16 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Forward Daniela Peteva (179-89) chipped in 16 points. Point guard Gergana Ivanova (177-99) produced 21 points and 6 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and center Gabriela Kostova (190-94) added 12 points and 4 blocks respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Beroe's coach tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Montana 2003 have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Beroe lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with ten games lost. Montana 2003's next round opponent will be Buducnost (#3) in Podgorica, which may be the game of the day. Beroe will play at home against ZKK Medvescak (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
