Second Stage Round 4: Homenetmen - Beirut Club 91-73

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Beirut: Homenetmen (#2) and Beirut Club (#5). Homenetmen (17-4) smashed visiting Beirut Club (11-10) by 18 points 91-73. They outrebounded Beirut Club 35-23 including 26 on the defensive glass. Homenetmen looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American swingman Sam Young (198-85, college: Pittsburgh) fired 23 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. U.S. Virgin Islands-Puerto Rican point guard Walter Hodge (183-86, college: Florida) chipped in 18 points and 7 assists. Four Homenetmen players scored in double figures. The former international forward Bassel Bawji (203-89, college: Tulsa) produced 26 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Chris Crawford (193-92, college: Memphis) added 25 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Homenetmen maintains second position in Group A with 17-4 record having just three points less than leader Al Riyadi. Newly promoted Beirut Club keeps the fifth place with ten games lost. Homenetmen are looking forward to face Champville (#3) in Dik El Mehdi in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Beirut Club's supporters also look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Beirut Sagesse.
