Third ranked Vivo/Franca (20-6) saved a 2-point victory at home edging one of their biggest challengers Mogi (17-6) 75-73 in the game for the third place. It was a good game for the former international point guard Rafael Freire-Luz (188-92) who led his team to a victory with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international point guard Leandro Barbosa (190-82) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Four Vivo/Franca players scored in double figures. Vivo/Franca's coach Helinho Garcia allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Naturalized American Shamell Stallworth (195-80, college: USF, agency: Interperformances) replied with 24 points and international Jimmy Oliveira (191-90) added 12 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Mogi. Vivo/Franca maintains third position with 20-6 record having just one point less than leader Paulistano. Mogi at the other side keeps the fourth place with six games lost. Vivo/Franca will play against Vasco Da G. (#10) in Rio de Janeiro in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Mogi will play at home against Pinheiros (#7) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
