No shocking result in a game in Kanagawa where third ranked Toshiba Thunders (29-13) won against 6th ranked Nishinomiya S. (7-35) 96-89 on Friday. Toshiba Thunders looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Nishinomiya S. was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field). The former international point guard Yuma Fujii (178-91) helped adding 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was Yu Okada (184-83) with 25 points, 5 assists and 4 steals and American power forward Cameron Ridley (206-93, college: Texas) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Toshiba Thunders. They maintain third place with 29-13 record having five points less than leader Ryukyu GK. Nishinomiya S. lost their eleventh game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the fifth position with 35 games lost. Toshiba Thunders will face Shiga L-Stars (#4) at home in the next round. Nishinomiya S. will play against the league's second-placed Toyota Alvark and hope to win that game.
