Regular Season Round 22: Lille - Vichy Clermont 77-82

We should mention about the upset which took place in Lille, where higher ranked Lille Metropole (14-8) lost at home to eleventh ranked JA Vichy (10-12) 77-82 on Friday. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 12-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 82-77. Power forward Charles-Henri Bronchard (200-82, agency: Court Side) fired 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American guard Christopher Smith (193-94, college: Utah St., agency: 3Eye) chipped in 18 points. Four JA Vichy players scored in double figures. American forward Rakeem Buckles (203-90, college: FIU) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and Spanish guard Marcos Suka-Umu (192-85) added 13 points and 8 assists respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. JA Vichy have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Evreux and Rouen. Loser Lille Metropole dropped to the fifth position with eight games lost. JA Vichy will face Charleville-Mezieres (#17) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Lille Metropole will play against Provence Basket (#4) in Fos-sur-Mer and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
