Rather expected game when 6th ranked WIT Wildcats (5-11) were smashed by third ranked DCU Mercy (12-4) in Waterford 86-53 on Friday. DCU Mercy dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to WIT Wildcats' 44. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by WIT Wildcats' players. American forward Alexandra Masaquel (178, college: William & Mary) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. The former international guard Sarah Woods (174-88) contributed with 12 points for the winners. The former international forward Stephanie OShea (185-91) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and American forward Meghan Donohue (185, college: Siena) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for WIT Wildcats. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for DCU Mercy. They maintain third place with 12-4 record behind leader Liffey Celtics. WIT Wildcats lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the sixth position with 11 games lost.
