The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Belize City: Belize City D. (#3) and Smart Belize H. (#4). Belize City D. (4-2) smashed visiting Smart Belize H. (3-3) by 18 points 85-67. Belize City D. forced 22 Smart Belize H. turnovers. Strangely Smart Belize H. outrebounded Belize City D. 53-29 including a 23-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Smart Belize H.'s players. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Nigel Jones (200-90, college: Talladega) who helped to win the game recording 27 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international forward Darwin Leslie (191-81) who added 11 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Jones is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. International Brian White (196-95, college: Wesley) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds and American center Tyson Reynold (205-92, college: Life) scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Belize City D. maintains third position with 4-2 record having seven points less than leader San Pedro T. Smart Belize H. at the other side keeps the fourth place with three games lost. Belize City D. are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Orange Walk RR (#7) in the next round. Smart Belize H. will play against the league's leader San Pedro T. and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
