An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Leiden. First ranked Groningen faced 3rd placed Leiden. Guests from Groningen (19-2) smashed host Leiden (16-6) 85-61. The game was mostly controlled by Groningen. Leiden was better in fourth quarter 27-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Groningen dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Leiden's 20. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Brandyn Curry (187-91, college: Harvard, agency: Inception Sports) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 4 steals. His fellow American import forward Evan Bruinsma (202-92, college: Detroit Mercy, agency: Inception Sports) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. The former international Jessey Voorn (197-90, agency: Court Side) answered with 17 points and American guard Carrington Love (186-94, college: Green Bay) added 11 points and 4 assists in the effort for Leiden. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Groningen have an impressive series of fourteen victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 19-2 record. Leiden at the other side keeps the third position with six games lost. Groningen will play against Amsterdam (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Leiden will play against Rotterdam (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
