Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Lima-Horta (8-14) was outscored by second ranked Aros Patatas (17-5) in Leon 92-64 on Saturday. Aros Patatas outrebounded Lima-Horta 39-21 including 25 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Quite impressive performance for guard Marta Canella (178-95) who helped to win the game recording 18 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Guard Victoria Vine (173-95, college: Eckerd) contributed with 23 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Aros Patatas' coach Isabel Fernandez felt very confident using 11 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Forward Ana Alonso (187-90) replied with 20 points and guard Vanesa Verbo (174-94) added 10 points and 5 assists in the effort for Lima-Horta. Aros Patatas have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position in Group A with 17-5 record having four points less than leader Gran Canaria, which they share with GDKO Bizkaia. Lima-Horta lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with 14 games lost. Aros Patatas will face GDKO Bizkaia (#3) in Galdakao in the next round, which may be the game of the day.
