Regular Season Round 27: Toshiba BT - Nishinomiya S. 99-75

Everything went according to plan in Kanagawa where third ranked Toshiba Thunders (29-13) outscored 6th ranked Nishinomiya S. (7-35) 99-75 on Saturday. Toshiba Thunders made 24-of-30 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for American power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). His fellow American import forward Josh Davis (203-91, college: San Diego St.) helped adding 16 points and 4 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). The best for the losing side was point guard Noriaki Douhara (178-89) with 22 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Herbert Hill (208-84, college: Providence) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Toshiba Thunders. They maintain third place with 29-13 record having five points less than leader Ryukyu GK. Nishinomiya S. lost their eleventh game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the fifth position with 35 games lost. Toshiba Thunders will face Shiga L-Stars (#4) at home in the next round. Nishinomiya S. will play against the league's second-placed Toyota Alvark and hope to win that game.
