There was a surprise result when fifteenth ranked Carugate (6-17) defeated on the road higher ranked San Salvatore (6-16) 66-56 on Saturday. They outrebounded San Salvatore 42-29 including 28 on the defensive glass. Quite impressive performance for Lithuanian power forward Laura Zelnyte (190-94, agency: Octagon Europe) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 11 points and 18 rebounds. Point guard Laura Rossi (173-97) contributed with 18 points and 5 assists for the winners. Ilenia Cordola (183-96) replied with 12 points and 9 rebounds and the former international guard Cinzia Arioli (178-84, agency: LBM Management) added 16 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for San Salvatore. Carugate moved-up to thirteenth place in A2. Loser San Salvatore keeps the eleventh position with 16 games lost. Carugate will face league's second-placed Costa Masnaga at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
