Regular Season Round 22: Alpo VF - Cagliari CUS 62-20
Date: March 10, 2018
There was no surprise when 13th ranked Cagliari CUS (5-17) was outleveled by third ranked Alpo VF (18-4) in Verona 62-20 on Saturday. Alpo VF held Cagliari CUS to an opponent 14.3 percent shooting from the field compared to 39.1 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Cagliari CUS 53-26 including a 18-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Quite impressive performance for point guard Alessia Cabrini (178-96) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. Point guard Sofia Vespignani (170-96) contributed with 8 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Forward Giulia Ridolfi (182-94) replied with 3 points and 7 rebounds and guard Elena Borsetto (168-93) added 3 points in the effort for Cagliari CUS. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Alpo VF maintains third position in A2 with 18-4 record having just two points less than leader Sesto SG. Loser Cagliari CUS dropped to the fifteenth place with 17 games lost. Alpo VF will face Fanola SML (#16) in San Martino di L in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Cagliari CUS will play at home against Albino and hope to win that game.
