Regular Season Round 42: Aomori Watts - Yamagata 87-80

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Yamagata (16-25) against fifth ranked Aomori Watts (10-31) on Saturday night. Visiting Yamagata was defeated by Aomori Watts in a tough game in Aomori 80-87. Aomori Watts players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. American players dominated the game. Forward Joe Burton (201-90, college: Oregon St.) scored 17 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and center Kyle Barone (208-89, college: Idaho) chipped in 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Five Aomori Watts players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Chris Olivier (203-92, college: Oklahoma St.) with 26 points and 8 rebounds and forward Billy McShepard (208-87, college: Valdosta St., agency: Blacktop Management) scored 23 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Aomori Watts maintains fifth position with 10-31 record, which they share with Bambitious Nara. Yamagata at the other side keeps the third place with 25 games lost. They share the position with Sendai 89ers. Aomori Watts will again play against higher ranked Yamagata (#3) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Yamagata will have a break next round.
