Regular Season Round 26: Cordobasket - Marbella 73-82

Very expected game when 9th ranked Cordobasket (9-12) was defeated at home by third ranked Marbella (14-7) 82-73 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was point guard Fernando Ferruz (180) who scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. American center Evan Maxwell (203, college: Dowling) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. Venezuelan forward Albert Arias (194-89) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and center Jose Gutierrez (195-98) added 15 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Five Marbella and four Cordobasket players scored in double figures. Cordobasket's coach Rafael Sanz let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Newly promoted Marbella maintains third position in Group D-Clasif with 14-7 record having just two points less than leader Vic. Cordobasket lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 12 games lost. Marbella will face ULB OH!TELS (#8) in La Linea in the next round where they are favorite. Cordobasket will play on the road against the league's second-placed Cazorla and hope to win that game.
