There was a surprise result in Sao Paulo where eleventh ranked Minas (11-13) edged higher ranked Pinheiros (13-12) 64-62 on Saturday. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Minas made 9 blocks. The best player for the winners was forward Wesley Ferreira (201-95) who scored 23 points. American guard Evan Roquemore (190-92, college: Santa Clara) chipped in 11 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Desmond Holloway (191-90, college: Co.Carolina) who recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import guard Cordero Bennett (188-88) added 16 points respectively. Minas moved-up to ninth place. Pinheiros lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 12 games lost. Minas will face higher ranked Universo/Vitoria (#8) in Salvador in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
