Regular Season Round 22: Valencia - Promete 66-52

Date: March 10, 2018
Very predictable result when second ranked Valencia (19-3) won against at home 11th ranked Promete (5-16) 66-52 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 66-52. Valencia forced 24 Promete turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Quite impressive performance for Mali power forward Meiya Tirera (186-86, agency: ProDep Management) who helped to win the game recording 19 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Portuguese guard Maria Correia (173-91, agency: ProDep Management) contributed with 9 points and 6 assists for the winners. Valencia's coach Ruben Burgos used entire bench and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American forward Sune Swart (190-95, college: Bucknell) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Laura Marcos-Canedo (173-94, college: Grand Canyon) added 12 points in the effort for Promete. Valencia have an impressive 15-game winning streak. They maintain second position in Group B with 19-3 record having just two points less than leader Gran Canaria. Promete lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth place with 16 games lost. Valencia will face Adareva (#13) in Laguna in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Promete will play at home against Leganes and hope to win that game.
