Regular Season Round 38: Kauhajoki - Kouvot 93-88

Date: March 10, 2018
No shocking result in a game when second ranked Kauhajoki (23-12) beat at home 6th ranked Kouvot (18-15) 93-88. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Kouvot won third quarter 27-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kauhajoki players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Bosnian guard Bojan Sarcevic (190-88) had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 6 rebounds and 12 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American Greg Mangano (208-89, college: Yale, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 26 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four Kauhajoki players scored in double figures. American forward Jamie Skeen (203-88, college: VCU) responded with 23 points and 5 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Drew Brandon (193-92, college: E.Washington) scored 18 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Kauhajoki have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 23-12 record having five points less than leader Salon Vilpas. Kouvot at the other side keeps the sixth place with 15 games lost. They share the position with BC Nokia. Kauhajoki will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Kouvot will play on the road against Joensuun Kataja (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
