There was no surprise when 12th ranked Lugo (8-17) was crushed at home by seventh ranked Forli Tigers (15-10) 93-69 on Saturday. Forli Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Lugo's 28 and made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Lugo 36-25 including 26 on the defensive glass. Lugo was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Francesco Papa (198-95) fired a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Christian Villani (198-82, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 17 points and 5 assists. Four Forli Tigers players scored in double figures. Forward Tommaso Gatto (204-96, agency: Players Group) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and power forward Giacomo Filippini (204-91) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Forli Tigers. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Pescara and Senigallia. Lugo lost their eighth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the twelfth position with 17 games lost. Forli Tigers will face Vicenza (#5) at home in the next round. Lugo will play against Faenza (#6) and hope to win that game.
