Regular Season Round 25: Volpino - Faenza 72-97

There was no surprise when 16th ranked Volpino (5-20) was crushed at home by sixth ranked Faenza (16-9) 97-72 on Saturday. Faenza made 26-of-31 free shots (83.9 percent) during the game. Point guard Mattia Venucci (188-90) fired 32 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Forward Simone Aromando (200-97) chipped in 18 points and 8 rebounds. Naturalized Croatian swingman Armin Mazic (199-93) produced 14 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and Edoardo Caversazio (199-96) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Volpino players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Faenza moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Volpino dropped to the fourteenth position with 20 games lost. Faenza will face Lugo (#13) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Volpino will play against Reggio Emilia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
