Regular Season Round 22: Empoli - Alghero 81-57

Serie A2 top team - Empoli (19-1) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed fifteenth ranked Alghero (2-19) 81-57. Empoli dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Alghero's 32. They outrebounded Alghero 43-25 including a 33-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Empoli looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Lithuanian forward Gabriele Narviciute (190-90) notched 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and center Laura Manetti (181-99) supported her with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Five Empoli players scored in double figures. Even 13 points by point guard Carla Spiga (165-95) did not help to save the game for Alghero. Bulgarian guard Veronika Djikova (179-90) added 11 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Empoli maintains first position in A2 with 19-1 record. Loser Alghero keeps the fifteenth place with 19 games lost. Empoli will meet Forli (#13) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Alghero will play against Bologna and hope to secure a win.
