Regular Season Round 23: Sant Adria - Estudiantes 66-50

Bottom-ranked ASEFA Estudiantes (0-23) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 66-50 loss to eighth ranked Sant Adria (11-12) in Sant Adria. The game was mostly controlled by Sant Adria. ASEFA Estudiantes was better in third quarter 12-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding ASEFA Estudiantes to just 7 points in second quarter. Sant Adria dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to ASEFA Estudiantes' 24. Sant Adria forced 22 ASEFA Estudiantes turnovers. American point guard Andrea Riley (165-88, college: Oklahoma St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. International Belen Arrojo (188-95) contributed with 14 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Sant Adria players scored in double figures. Forward Paula Ginzo (187-98) answered with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and American guard Shay Selby (175-90, college: Duke) added 7 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for ASEFA Estudiantes. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted Sant Adria maintains eighth place with 11-12 record. ASEFA Estudiantes lost their twenty third game in a row. ASEFA Estudiantes at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings. Sant Adria will play against league's second-placed Argon Uni Girona on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. ASEFA Estudiantes will play against Zamarat (#12) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
