Regular Season Round 22: Valencia - RETAbet BB 87-67
Date: March 11, 2018
Not a big story in a game when 16th ranked RETAbet BB (6-16) was outscored on the road by third ranked Valencia Basket (15-7) 87-67 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Valencia Basket. RETAbet BB was better in fourth quarter 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Valencia Basket made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. It was a very good performance for the former international swingman Fernando San-Emeterio (199-84) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 4 assists. American-Georgian Will Thomas (203-86, agency: Two Points) contributed with 13 points for the winners. Ghanian-American forward Ben Bentil (206-95, college: Providence) replied with 13 points and 8 rebounds and Belgian-Congolese point guard Jonathan Tabu (189-85) added 13 points in the effort for RETAbet BB. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with FC Barcelona and Baskonia. RETAbet BB lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the fifteenth position with 16 games lost. Valencia Basket will face CB Canarias (#9) in Tenerife in the next round and are hoping to win another game. RETAbet BB will play at home against Real Betis (#17) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
