Regular Season Round 25: Salerno - Isernia 112-44

Not a big story in a game when 16th ranked Isernia (2-23) was outplayed on the road by fourth ranked Salerno (18-7) 112-44 on Sunday. Salerno dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Isernia's 12 and made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Isernia 33-18 including a 25-9 advantage in defensive rebounds. Salerno looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Isernia's players. Power forward Paolo Paci (204-90) fired 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Massimiliano Sanna (195-88) chipped in 20 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Five Salerno players scored in double figures. Guard Ferdinando Smorra (185-88) produced 15 points and 4 assists and center Davide Varrone (206-91) added 7 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Salerno moved-up to third place, which they share with Valmontone and Piacenza. Isernia lost their thirteenth game in a row. They keep the sixteenth position with 23 games lost. Salerno will face Catanzaro (#9) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Isernia will play against Valmontone (#5) and hope to win that game.
