Date: March 12, 2018
No shocking result in a game in Mogi das Cruzes where fourth ranked Mogi (17-6) smashed 11th ranked Minas (11-13) 76-39 on Monday. Mogi dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Minas' 16. They outrebounded Minas 40-23 including a 33-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Larry Taylor (185-80, college: Missouri Western) who scored 15 points and 5 assists. American forward Tyrone Curnell (203-88, college: Valdosta St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Anderson Mosso (205-82, college: Chipola JC) who recorded 7 points and 5 rebounds and forward Wesley Ferreira (201-95) added 10 points respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Mogi maintains fourth position with 17-6 record. Loser Minas dropped to the ninth place with 13 games lost. Mogi will face Pinheiros (#7) in Sao Paulo in the next round. Minas will play at home against Universo/Vitoria and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
