Regular Season Round 27: SeaHorses - Hokkaido L. 95-80

There was no surprise in Kariya where 6th ranked Hokkaido L. (21-21) was defeated by first ranked Aishin Sea Horses (34-8) 95-80 on Monday. Aishin Sea Horses outrebounded Hokkaido L. 35-23 including 23 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American center Isaac Butts (208-89, college: Appalachian St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 18 rebounds (on 12-of-13 shooting from the field). The former international center JR Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) helped adding 16 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Five Aishin Sea Horses players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Asahi Tajima (173-88) with 18 points and 4 assists and the former international forward Daisuke Noguchi (196-83) scored 12 points and 5 assists. Hokkaido L.'s coach Kota Mizuno gave the chance to play for ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the tenth consecutive win for Aishin Sea Horses. They maintain first place with 34-8 record. Loser Hokkaido L. dropped to the second position with 21 games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will face Hitachi Sunrockers (#5) in Tokyo in the next round. Hokkaido L. will play at home against Toyama Grouses and hope to win that game.
