Second Stage Round 6: Beirut Club - Al Riyadi 100-88

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Al Riyadi (19-4) on the court of fifth ranked Beirut Club on Tuesday night. Visitors were defeated by Beirut Club 100-88. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Al Riyadi. Beirut Club made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. Nigerian-American guard Michael Efevberha (193-84, college: CS Northridge) scored 37 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Chris Crawford (193-92, college: Memphis) chipped in 25 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American center Chris Daniels (205-84, college: Texas A&M-CC) with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and the former international point guard Wael Arakji (194-94) scored 14 points and 7 assists. Four Beirut Club and five Al Riyadi players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Beirut Club maintains fifth position in Group A with 13-10 record. Defending champion Al Riyadi still keeps top place with four games lost. Beirut Club will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Al Riyadi will play at home against Champville and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
