Second Stage Round 8: Crvena Zvezda - Partizan 78-61

The most interesting game of round 8 was a derby match between two teams from Serbia/Crvena-Zvezda-Beograd/7702. The game took place in Beograd where fourth ranked Crvena Zvezda won against visiting Partizan (7-7) 78-61. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Partizan. The game was mostly controlled by Crvena Zvezda. Partizan managed to win third quarter 23-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Crvena Zvezda won last quarter 25-10. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Partizan's 24. Crvena Zvezda had a 34-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Marija Prlja (163-87) who helped to win the game recording 29 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and center Biljana Stjepanovic (190-87, agency: ProDep Management) who added 13 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. American guard Ashley Claussen (168-94, college: S.Oregon, agency: AgainHello) responded with 11 points and 6 assists and power forward Ivanka Matic (193-79) scored 7 points and 7 rebounds. Partizan's coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Defending Serbian champion maintains fourth position with 8-6 record. Partizan at the other side keeps the fifth place with seven games lost.
