Date: March 13, 2018
A1 top team - Panathinaikos (19-0) had no problems winning another game on Tuesday. This time they crushed eighth ranked Kymis (8-11) in Athens 87-64. The game was mostly controlled by Panathinaikos. Kymis managed to win second period 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 24-of-31 free shots (77.4 percent) during the game. Panathinaikos forced 20 Kymis turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Kymis helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized American center Zach Auguste (208-93, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). International point guard Nick Calathes (198-89, college: Florida) contributed with 9 points and 6 assists for the winners. American guard Lenzelle Smith-Jr (193-91, college: Ohio St.) answered with 10 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import center Gary McGhee (209-88, college: Pittsburgh, agency: Inception Sports) added 8 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Kymis. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Panathinaikos have an impressive series of nineteen victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 19-0 record. Kymis at the other side keeps the eighth position with 11 games lost. Panathinaikos are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Aiolos Trikallon (#14) in Trikala in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Kymis will play at home against Panionios (#13) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
