There was no surprise in Sorocabana where 15th ranked Liga Sorocaba (3-23) was crushed by eleventh ranked Minas (11-13) 75-54 on Wednesday. Minas made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American guard Evan Roquemore (190-92, college: Santa Clara) who scored 20 points and 4 assists. Forward Wesley Ferreira (201-95) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). Four Minas players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Dontrell Brite (175-94, college: Mount Olive) who recorded 12 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and naturalized American guard Kevin Crescenzi (190-93, college: Dartmouth) added 17 points respectively. Liga Sorocaba's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Minas moved-up to ninth place. Liga Sorocaba lost fourth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 23 lost games. Minas will face higher ranked Universo/Vitoria (#8) in Salvador in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Liga Sorocaba will play at home against Mogi (#4) and hope to win that game.
