Very expected game when 11th ranked Lapuan Korikobrat (6-28) was crushed on the road by fourth ranked Helsinki Seagulls (21-14) 91-65 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Helsinki Seagulls. Lapuan Korikobrat managed to win fourth quarter 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Helsinki Seagulls dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Lapuan Korikobrat's 34. They outrebounded Lapuan Korikobrat 41-25 including a 34-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Helsinki Seagulls looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Timo Heinonen (198-81, agency: Blacktop Management) who scored 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. International Tuukka Kotti (205-81, college: Providence) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Helsinki Seagulls players scored in double figures. Coach Mikko Larkas's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was Puerto Rican-American forward Christopher Ortiz (203-93, college: Kent St., agency: Inception Sports) who recorded 25 points and 5 rebounds and American point guard Stephen Croone (183-94, college: Furman) added 13 points respectively. Helsinki Seagulls moved-up to third place. Lapuan Korikobrat lost seventh consecutive game. Loser Lapuan Korikobrat stay dead last with 28 lost games. Helsinki Seagulls will meet Tampereen Pyrinto (#4) on the road in the next round. Lapuan Korikobrat will play against UU-Korihait (#10) in Uusikaupunki and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
