Regular Season Round 25: Sokhumi - Rustavi 68-78

There was no surprise in Tbilisi where 9th ranked Sokhumi (1-22) was defeated by third ranked Energy Invest (15-7) 78-68 on Thursday. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 31-15 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Energy Invest dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Sokhumi's 34. Energy Invest forced 24 Sokhumi turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American forward Tyrell Nelson (201, college: Gardner-Webb, agency: Interperformances) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import point guard Adam Blazek (185-92, college: Gannon) chipped in 25 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. At the losing side Ukrainian swingman Sergii Pryimak (204-96, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and swingman Otari Buliava (198-94) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Four Sokhumi players scored in double figures. Energy Invest moved-up to second place, which they share with Dinamo Tbilisi. Sokhumi lost twentieth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 22 lost games. Energy Invest will meet Mgzavrebi (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Sokhumi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Cactus Tbilisi.
