Regular Season Round 23: Vichy Clermont - Charleville 92-87
Date: March 16, 2018
Very expected game when 17th ranked Charleville-Mezieres (5-18) lost on the road to eleventh ranked JA Vichy (11-12) 92-87 on Friday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Charleville-Mezieres was trailing by 7 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 31-22 charge of JA Vichy, which allowed them to win the game. They made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for American point guard Kwamain Mitchell (178-89, college: St.Louis) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 11 assists and 6 steals. David Denave (193-85) accounted for 22 points for the winning side. Swingman Lucas Dussoulier (203-96) came up with 18 points and 6 rebounds and Bahamas center Zane Knowles (208-92, college: Texas A&M-CC) added 14 points and 13 rebounds respectively for Charleville-Mezieres in the defeat. Four JA Vichy and five Charleville-Mezieres players scored in double figures. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for JA Vichy. They moved-up to ninth place. Loser Charleville-Mezieres keeps the seventeenth position with 18 games lost. They share it with Quimper. JA Vichy will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Charleville-Mezieres will play against Poitiers (#13) and hope to secure a win.
