Regular Season Round 19: Olympiacos - Panionios 95-56

An interesting game for Olympiacos (19-0) which hosted in Pireus 3rd placed Panionios (14-5). Leader Olympiacos had an easy win 95-56. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Panionios. The game without a history. Olympiacos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Panionios to just 6 points in fourth quarter. Olympiacos dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Panionios' 38. Olympiacos forced 23 Panionios turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Panionios' players. It was a great evening for the former international Evanthia Maltsi (180-78, agency: ProDep Management) who led her team to a victory scoring 22 points and 7 assists. Croatian forward Mirna Mazic (188-85, college: Richmond, agency: ProDep Management) helped adding 17 points and 12 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Four Olympiacos players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Katie Healy (185-94, college: St.Bonaventure) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and the former international guard Maria-Roza Boni (180-86) scored 10 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Olympiacos have an impressive series of nineteen victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 19-0 record. Panionios at the other side keeps the third position with five games lost. Olympiacos will play against Athinaikos (#6) in Athens in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Panionios will play at home against Olympiacos Volou and hopes to get back on the winning track.
