The game between closely ranked teams ended with 6th ranked Snaefell's (10-16) road loss to fifth ranked Stjarnan (14-12) 65-69 on Saturday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-13. But Snaefell won second period 23-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American guard Danielle Rodriguez (178-93, college: Utah) who scored 29 points, 8 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals. Forward Maria Sigurdardottir (178-89) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Stjarnan's coach Petur Sigurdsson used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American swingman Kristen McCarthy (180-90, college: Temple) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points and 17 rebounds and international forward Berglind Gunnarsdottir (175-93) added 17 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Stjarnan moved-up to fourth place. Loser Snaefell dropped to the seventh position with 16 games lost. Stjarnan will meet Skallagrimur (#5) in the next round. Snaefell will play against the league's second-placed Valur in Reykjavik and hope to secure a win.
