Regular Season Round 23: Cortegada - RC Celta 83-72

There was a change at the LF2 leadership position after last games. Round 23 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Real Celta Vigo (18-5). They were defeated by sixth ranked Cortegada (13-10) 83-72 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Real Celta Vigo. The hosts trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 83-72. Cortegada made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for Cristina Loureiro (183-94) who led her team to a victory scoring 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Swingman Salome Garcia (175-92, agency: ProDep Management) helped adding 13 points and 10 rebounds. Four Cortegada players scored in double figures. Power forward Itziar German (184-86, agency: ProDep Management) responded with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Mali center Minata Keita (190-89) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Cortegada moved-up to fifth place in Group A, which they share with Barca CBS. Real Celta Vigo at the other side dropped to the second position with five games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by GDKO Bizkaia who have the same record. Real Celta Vigo will play next round against Ascensores Tresa trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Cortegada will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Maquinaria Ensino in Lugo.
