Regular Season Round 27: Chantada - Leon 79-71

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 4th placed Leon's (14-11) road loss to third ranked Chantada (17-8) 71-79 on Saturday. Leon trailed by 11 points at halftime and as many as 16 after three quarters before a 27-19 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 71-79 at the end of the game. Chantada outrebounded Leon 43-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for Nigerian forward Jeffrey Solarin (193-92, college: Idaho St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 19 rebounds and 4 assists. American swingman Charles Knowles (196-93, college: William Penn) contributed with 32 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Forward Pablo Ruiz (-97) answered with 19 points and 5 assists and American forward Colby Taylor (198-94, college: Central, agency: Dynamics Global Management) added 15 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Leon. Four Leon players scored in double figures. Chantada maintains third place in Group A-B with 17-8 record having just four point less than leader Vic. Loser Leon keeps the fourth position with 11 games lost. Chantada will face Estudiantes L. (#9) in Lugo in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Leon will play at home against Culleredo (#15) and hope to win that game.
